FAQ
Five sections. Twenty-plus honest answers.
Bluechip is a wealth platform for collectibles. You add your collection (cards, Funko Pops, LEGO, sealed TCG, signed memorabilia, comics, watches, video games), and we price every item against live eBay sold-comp data daily. Your collection shows up as a portfolio — total value, daily change, sparklines, asset allocation breakdown — like a Robinhood account for the stuff you actually love.
Three things. (1) Coverage: we handle every collectible category in one app — others lock you into cards-only or Funko-only. (2) Pricing accuracy: we hit eBay's live market directly, not a stale price guide. (3) Wealth-platform framing: net-to-you pricing, asset allocation, capital-gains exports, insurance PDFs — the financial-product features serious collectors with real positions need.
No. The fastest path is CSV import (your Collectr / Card Ladder / TCGPlayer / hobbyDB export gets bulk-mapped in 30 seconds) or screenshot import (drop screenshots from Beckett / PSA / any walled-garden tracker — Claude reads them and adds every item). For new pickups, the barcode scanner is one tap.
Items get priced the moment they're added (live eBay query). The portfolio chart starts populating with daily snapshots — by day 7 you have a week-long chart, by day 30 you have a month, etc. Marketplace Insights API approval upgrades the pricing to true sold comps in 2-5 business days.
Trading cards (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, Lorcana), sports cards (Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey — Topps, Bowman, Panini, Upper Deck), entertainment cards (Star Wars, Marvel, Disney — Topps Chrome Black, Marvel Masterpieces, Disney 100), Funko Pops, LEGO sets, sealed TCG product, signed memorabilia, comics, watches, video games, sneakers, coins. New categories ship as users ask.
Today: trimmed median of active eBay listings, outlier-filtered, refreshed daily. Once eBay's Marketplace Insights API approves us (in flight), we swap to true sold-comp data — the actual price collectors paid in the last 90 days, not the asking price. That's the Card Ladder gold-standard.
Full PSA / BGS / CGC / CBCS / SGC / CAS (Funko) / KSA (sneakers) support. Most platforms are PSA-only. Bluechip treats every major grader as equal — the value driver is the grade, not the slab.
Two signals. (1) Keyword scan across active listing titles for Chase, convention, retailer (Hot Topic / Box Lunch / GameStop / Marvel Collector Corps / Smuggler's Bounty), flocked, glow, metallic, diamond patterns. (2) Price-vs-MSRP heuristic — vaulted Pops trade 3-10x their $15 retail price. Combined score determines whether to flag as Vaulted.
Manual add takes 20 seconds — type the name, pick the asset class, enter cost basis. Bluechip will still price it (eBay keyword search) and chart it like any other holding. Tell us what's missing and we'll add it to the catalog — sets get added all the time.
Yes. Free forever, up to 50 items. No credit card to start. Most casual collectors stay on Free indefinitely. The Pro tier is for serious collectors who want unlimited items + real-time sold-comp pricing + AI screenshot import + every advanced detection feature.
Unlimited items, real-time eBay sold-comp pricing, screenshot import (the migration killer), AI photo scan for TCG cards, Funko vault + exclusive auto-detect, all grading houses, net-to-you pricing, full chart timeframes (1D through All-time), push alerts when items move, AI-written eBay listings, Year-in-Review. $59/year (or $9/month) on founding-member pricing.
Reserve adds insurance-ready PDF reports, tax-lot tracking with capital-gains exports, estate/beneficiary documentation, the Bluechip Collectibles Index benchmark, net-worth sync to your finance apps (Portfolio API), multi-portfolio support, and 2 concierge valuations per year. If your collection insures for five-to-six figures OR you have a CPA filing Schedule D on your sales, Reserve pays for itself. Otherwise Pro is enough.
Yes — it's a Reserve perk. Generate a private Portfolio API key in Settings and Bluechip serves your live collection value to anything that can read a URL: Era, Kubera, Google Sheets, your own dashboard. It shows up as an asset right beside your bank and brokerage accounts and refreshes daily — the way Plaid surfaces a bank balance, but for collectibles.
We refund your subscription AND send you $50 if Bluechip doesn't surface at least $1,000 of value you didn't know you had within 30 days of subscribing.
Yes. One click in your billing settings. You keep your data — it just drops back to Free-tier limits (50-item cap). Re-subscribing later restores everything.
Postgres on Neon (US East). Passwords are scrypt-hashed before they hit the database. Photos live on Vercel Blob. We never see your eBay account credentials — buy/sell links go through eBay's affiliate program with no auth needed on your end.
No. We make money on subscriptions and eBay affiliate commissions on outbound 'Find on eBay' clicks. Your collection data is yours. We don't sell it, broker it, or aggregate it for anyone.
Tom Leonardis. Sales advisor in fitness for 15+ years, lifelong collector. Built this because nothing existed that treated collectibles like the asset class they actually are. Bluechip Collectors LLC is a New Jersey entity, formed 2026.
Export a CSV from your current tracker (every major tool offers this). Drop it into Bluechip's CSV import. We auto-detect the format and map columns. 30 seconds in, your collection is fully migrated with current eBay pricing on every item.
That's exactly why we built screenshot import. Take screenshots of your Beckett collection pages. Drop them into Bluechip. Claude reads every visible item and adds them to your portfolio. The walled-garden exit ramp.
Your acquired dates and cost basis carry over via CSV. Your chart history (price snapshots over time) starts fresh in Bluechip — we begin snapshotting from the day you join. Within 90 days you have a 90-day chart on every item.
